Flight delays and cancellations are often tied to a growing shortage of pilots in the U.S. β a challenge expected to worsen as more professionals reach retirement age. To help address this gap and showcase the many career opportunities available, the Gem State Chapter of Women in Aviation International is hosting Girls in Aviation Day in Boise.
The event aims to inspire girls aged 8β18 to explore aviation paths ranging from piloting to air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, and beyond. Southwest Airlines First Officer Sarina Larson, founding president of the Boise chapter, and student pilot Caitlin Copple emphasize the importance of sparking interest early and connecting young women with mentors in the field.
